Many sync tools overwrite good copies with damaged or encrypted ones. Ash Backup never deletes anything from your backup, and a Security check button in the app confirms every protection at a glance.

Version historyReplaced files are kept for 7 to 365 days (30 by default), so a good copy is never lost.

Ransomware alarmIf more than 30% of files change at once, or files get names like .locked, scheduled backups pause.

Safe writesEach file is copied to a temporary name first, so a crash or power cut never leaves a broken backup.

Least privilegeScheduled backups run with normal user rights and no stored password.

02Allow itWindows may show “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway, and approve the admin prompt.

03Create a jobPick your folders, choose a backup drive, USB or network folder, and set a schedule. That’s it.

Why the Windows warning? The installer isn’t signed with a paid certificate yet, so Windows doesn’t recognise it. The app is safe: it makes no internet connections. Good to know

Scheduled backups run while you are signed in to Windows (a locked screen is fine).
To restore, copy files back from your backup folder in File Explorer. Older versions are in the .ashversions folder.
Backups are plain copies, not encrypted. For USB drives, turn on BitLocker To Go.
Paths longer than 260 characters are reported and skipped.
English only for now.
